Pre-engineering Education Center was established in 1996 in Decision No. 190/BK-TC dated 21 December 1996 to carry out the following missions:

- Teaching politics, providing physical training to undergraduate students, full-time students of Three -Year Training Program, employees as well as teaching philosophy to graduate students of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology.

- Providing computer courses at level A, B, technician courses ... for undergraduate and graduate students of the University.

- Providing training or collaborating with external organizations in cities and provinces to organize computer courses at level A, B as well as technician courses.

The Center has 16 staff (in term of academic title, there are 1 PhD, 8 masters, 5 bachelors, 1 engineer; in term of academic position, there are 3 regular teaching staff). Since 2010, the Center has conducted 3 research projects at University level, 1 research project at Vietnam National University level, co-authored 5 books, published 5 articles on Specialized Journals and 09 papers in scientific proceedings, won 1 Third Prize – Pham Than Duat History Prize awarded by Vietnam Association of Historical Sciences.

Under the leadership and support from HCMUT Board of Rectors along with great efforts of Director Board and all dedicated staff, the Center has been developing to accomplish the mission of providing qualified human resources for the society.
